Middle School Technology

Here at Maranacook Community Middle School, we are very fortunate to be a part of the Maine Learning Technology Initiative or MLTI program.  As a part of this program, all 7th and 8th grade students are given iBook laptops to use at school.  We also allow students to take the laptops home to continue their learning.  Please see the "Take Home Guidelines" to find out how that works.  These laptops are full of wonderful programs that really make a difference in not only how students learn but also how they organize and complete their work.  It's been very exciting to see students show evidence of their learning in so many exciting ways! Please visit www.mainelearns.org to find out the exciting ways technology is being used in Maine!

The 6th grade students at Maranacook have also been given laptops to use in a one-to-one environment.  Our school was able to purchase the old MLTI laptops last year and upgrade the memory for the 6th grade to use.  Before 6th graders had two students to every laptop so they are really enjoying not having to share!  Although the 6th grade machines do not have all the same programs as the MLTI machines, they do have many.  We are also purchasing a few of the more important ones to have like NoteShare, Keynote, and Pages.
