Great resource to find research! Two of my favorite sections are Middle Level Search and Eric-Education. Librarians teach students to use this regularly!

This site is a portal, which means that it gathers work that others has done to support the various topics it has on it site. It has virtual tours, tutorials, virtual textbooks, just to name a few. It would be a great support tool for students or teachers who would like to learn more about graphic communication.
Webcite Online citation generator for electronic resources
This is an experimental citation generator but would be great to use with students in a unit on citing electronic sources to their projects.
A fun site to learn about copyright issues. Take this interactive tutorial and visit Copyright Bay and cruise through Fair Use Harbor, but be careful of Murky Water and Infringement Reef. Great to use with staff for a light activity on a serious matter.
A great article on copyright and fair use by Hall Davidson. Taking the online quiz that follows and reading the explanation of the correct responses was very enlightening! I learned more from that than the basic article.
Cyberbee offers detailed checklists in pdf format to evaluate content and one for web design. Also includes an early elementary version.
Detailed web site on evaluating web sites. Good background material and lots of links to other sites for evaluation web sites.
For middle school and high school students, I would use Five Criteria for Evaluating Web Pages because it breaks it down into five key areas and provides a nice chart to follow. It’s great for a basic overview and is a great useable tool.
For teachers, good format. It not only gives questions to ask, but also provides lots of information and tips on how to learn more about the site.

Sometimes a photograph of something is better than a graphical representation. This is a great site to use for presentations, posters, or reports. Students love the option of including a photo!

Content Area Section
The Maine Memory Network is a statewide database of electronic versions of Maine's Historical Documents, contributed by cultural institutions from around the state, from their own locations.
This site is appropriate for use in libraries, museums, schools, homes, and the workplace. Students and teachers may find the site especially helpful in their studying (and teaching!) Earth and Space sciences. The site is written in three reading levels approximating elementary, middle school and high school reading levels. These levels may be chosen by using the upper button bar of each page of the main site.
